NERJA PROPERTY VIEW:
Nerja is the property hot spot of all beach resorts on the western end of the Costa del Sol. The town is, like all villages west of Malaga, less developed than the eastern tip of Málagas Costa del Sol. There are no high-rise buildings in the area, and very few hotels. If you are interested in property to the west of Malaga and you want to get as much value for money as possible, then forget Nerja and look elsewhere. If location is more important for you, than definitely buy in the Nerja area. The beautiful town has got more to offer than any other resort on the western side of Malaga!
The top ten cities and resorts for property prices, as published by the 'euro-weekly' newspaper 19th - 25 October 2006 is:
Nerja is situated 55 kilometres from Malaga, on the eastern part of the Costa del Sol. It is a very attractive, white town (20.000 inhabitants) that still retains its traditional Andalusian Character. We definitely consider the former fishing town as one of the coasts most pleasant places to live or to spend holidays!
Flanked by a dramatic mountain range (Sierra Almijara), the town has managed to keep its original character. Nerja is surrounded by farmland and in the white village you will not find any buildings more than three floors high. The old part of the town is still virtually unchanged with narrow, winding streets and whitewashed houses. This area, full of interesting shops, restaurants and bars, dates from the 14th century and is built in a typical Moorish style.
Nerja boasts 17 kilometres of sandy beaches and sparkling clear water. All water sports are available in Nerja, including scuba diving, water skiing and sailing. The main beach 'Burriana Playa', has well maintained swimming and sunbathing facilities.
A must for anyone visiting Nerja is a IX-century fortification called ´The balcony of Europe´. In the very heart of Nerja, this magnificent promenade along the edge of a towering cliff is the place to be. Enjoy the sweeping panoramic views of the Mediterranean, the many bars and restaurants and the little street market at night time!
There is no golf course in Nerja. However, the Med Development Group have won the bid to build an 18 hole golf course. Nerja property guide info.

Work days between 6am and 10pm: approximately 0,9 Euros for every kilometre.
Category 2;
Between 10 pm and 6am, Saturdays, Sundays and bank holidays, the whole day; approximately 1,01 Euros every kilometre. A taxi should cost you approximately 60 Euros depending on the category and the exact area within Nerja.
A taxi carries four passengers. Babies must use their own security baby chair, small children under 135cm. must use their own booster seat, and children under 140 cm must not sit in the front. Most Spanish taxi drivers will allow children without their own security chair, because if the police stop you on your journey, you pay the fine, not him!

RECOMMENDED RESTAURANTS: NEAR YOUR NERJA PROPERTY Click here.
This information is taken from the Spanish yellow pages. If you see a listing of 90 restaurants, at least you will have an idea of the size of the town, you are thinking of buying a property in, where as if you see a listing of two, think about buying some hens, as your Nerja property will be in a very remote place!

*The caves.
When you are staying in the Nerja area you must the visit the famous ´Cuevas de Nerja´. The caves were accidentally discovered by a group of youngsters in 1959 and opened to the public the following year. There are cave paintings, giant stalactites and stalagmites (the largest is 32 metres high and 18 metres in diameter!) to be seen and, because of the exceptional acoustics in the huge chambers, concerts are regularly held here. The Festival of Music and Dance takes place in July.
